I think any wall or niche, big or small, can be an opportunity to fit in a small desk or workspace. This small bedroom desk is a great example of how little space s necessary to create a surface to get some work done. All you need is a work lamp and a comfy chair.
Personally I like to switch locations throughout the house while working, so small areas like these are perfect for this.
