When stylist Katleen Willaert & Photographer Jochen Verghote, were looking for outdoor furniture for their holiday home Les Castors, an old farmhouse in the Ardennes. They did not find what they wanted within the range between sleek slim design or rustic rural and asked Deevie Vermetten from Fermetti, who has a background as a furniture maker, furniture & interior designer, for help. Together they designed the sustainable, tough and minimal Kurai collection.

Shou Sugi Ban

The Kurai Collection consists of a solid oak table, bench and stools finished with the Shou Sugi Ban technique. Burning the wood creates an intense black color and at the same time protects it against wind and weather. This old Japanese technique increases the lifespan and is therefore very suitable for outdoor furniture.
