In this first article: EDIT Napoli 2025 Where Design Meets the Soul of Naples I briefly talked about the ‘Unseen Visions’ project by architects Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva and Cetty Grammatica. Later that evening I visited the studio of Giuliano Andrea in the Chiaia quarter. A great opportunity to see more of the Neapolitan architecture hidden behind the large wooden entry door at Via Monte di Dio.

It was not the first time I came across his work, as part of Milan Design Week 2023, he presents the Elle Decor Italia exhibition and installation at Palazzo Bovara: The “Art of Light” A collaborative effort between dell’Uva’s studio, Metis Lighting, and landscape architect Antonio Perazzi. Which was one of my  highlights from that year’s exhibitions, you can still read my blog about it here: Bringing Mediterranean Summer vibes indoors with these stylish brands In the cafe the upholstery in Capri fabric by Studio dell’Uva with Swiss textile company Christian Fischbacher beautifully came to life and until today I often think back to how the striped fabric gave me an instant summer feeling.

Studio Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva

An evening at Studio dell’Uva

I really love my work and how even though travelling often by myself, I never really feel alone as I always come across people I have met before at press trips or interior fairs and make new friends, so at Edit Napoli. I am grateful to have been able to visit all these fantastic places, and loved to see so many new and old familiar faces at the studio that evening. Giuliano Andrea’s distinctive style emerges from his ability to combine the aesthetic legacy of the past with a more contemporary approach, which he adapts with creative verve to the needs of his clients and his own studio. A great vibe in a beautiful space, where I really fell in love with the stained glass windows surrounding the courtyard.

In addition to renovating important villas and apartments, he also designs public spaces such as shops, boutique hotels, lounge bars, and cafés.  Since 2014, alongside his architectural career, he has also been artistic director of the furniture line for the historic Livio de Simone company. Together with Livio De Simone and Arcea, he has created a collection of custom tiles, read more about his work here:  Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva
