Artist Monica Rohan knows how to create a mood. Her figures—and artwork clad in gorgeous patterns and florals—look as though they are always in motion yet stuck in time. They are precariously perched on stools too tall and are awash in a sea of fabric. The surreal nature of her work feels, at its essence, very relatable—especially for these pandemic times. It’s the feeling that everything around you is moving (life does go on, after all) but you’re still in one place just trying to keep up.
