This country house in Oxfordshire by Louise Holt, is without a doubt a little slice of historical heaven. Built in the 18th century, the house has managed to stand without losing even an ounce of its charm and quaint beauty. It recently received an interior design face lift and below are some of the highlights.
The first thing you notice about this house is the incredible amount of white; and boy does it do wonders to the place. This includes everything from white table linen and bedding to white walls and flooring. There are also several white pieces of furniture as well as home accessories including lamp shades and flower vases. The white theme gives every room a clean and sophisticated feel. There is also a bit of color from exposed wood, neutral colored furniture as well as several plants in the house that give the rooms a bit more character.
Staying true to the house’s original design, there is a lot of beautiful exposed brick. This is seen around the fireplace off the dining area, in the kitchen as well as on the walls along the hallways. This feature blends in perfectly with the modern white theme giving the perfect combination of vintage and modern contemporary design.
The outdoors literally brought indoors
There are so many potted plants and flowers in this house that you wouldn’t be punished for thinking you were outdoors. Whether it is a bunk of lovely lavenders in the bathroom or a pot of herbs in the kitchen, there is no denying the aesthetic benefit of these colorful additions.
