Neutral, natural, simple decorations are always my preference for Christmas and beyond.  And if they’re DIY decorations, even better!  One of my favourite materials to make Christmas decorations is paper.  Whether that’s wrapping paper, cardboard or even basic printer paper, there are so many possibilities.  So I thought I’d share some of my favourite DIY Christmas decorations made with paper.

All of these paper decorations are simple to make but the results are beautiful.  They’re all minimalist and neutral which is always a good thing.  From paper flowers to paper stars, there’s lots to choose from.  All you have to decide is which one you’ll make first!

These DIY paper flowers are so simple yet stunning!  Can you guess what paper they’re made from?  Yep — old paperback book pages.  I love the simplicity of the book pages but if you wanted to go for a more festive look, try using wrapping paper scraps.  These paper wall flowers do take some time to make but they’re easy to do and make such a pretty decoration.

DIY paper tree ornaments

These DIY paper tree ornaments couldn’t be prettier!  They’re made using basic printer paper which has been printed with some simple graphic patterns like dots and grids on both sides.  And then finished with some plush velvet ribbon so you can hang them on your tree.  You can however use whatever paper you like as long as it’s double sided.  Here’s how to make these DIY paper tree ornaments.

I’m sure you’ve guessed what these stars are made from — toilet paper rolls!  What a simple but stylish idea.  I love them as they are but you could also paint a few of them in black or white.  They’ve been finished with some string so they can be hung on a Christmas tree.  Here’s where you can find how to make these simple paper stars.

Last but definitely not least are these stunning Christmas trees made with corrugated cardboard paper.  Corrugated cardboard is such a lovely paper to craft with because it has so much texture.  Once mad you could thread some string and use these as tree ornaments or you could simply create a display on your mantle or table.  Here’s how to make these DIY cardboard Christmas trees.
