I mentioned this last month as well, but when I came up with the concept for my pattern suites last summer, I pre-planned all of the themes for each of the next 12 months. Many are seasonal and based around holidays or events taking place at the time. It seems like fate that I chose Stashbusters as the theme for March given that we are all trying to be resourceful right now during this global pandemic, but April’s theme might be even better:

AROUND THE HOUSE!

This theme was meant to serve as a sort of spring cleaning, “refresher” type of vibe, but now it has more meaning than ever. Not only do we have the urge to freshen up our living spaces for a new season, the majority of us are staying safe at home and need an environment that supports a peaceful and cozy life. The patterns in these suites were carefully chosen to serve that purpose! In each suite you’ll find patterns for modern home items and garments and accessories that are perfect for lounging. Some of the patterns are very recent releases, and some are old favorites that continue to be top sellers.

The Barrow Hand Towel was designed for Earth Day last year along with the sister knit pattern, the Waverly Hand Towel (which is part of the knitting suite this month!). It’s been one of my most popular patterns ever since, and it’s not hard to see why. The texture of this towel is scrumptious and it’s not only beautiful as a finished product, it’s so fun to make! Perfect in your own kitchen or as a lovely gift.

The Blanket Poncho is the oldest pattern in the suites this month. Designed in 2014, it’s consistently been a top seller. This is a beginner-friendly pattern that results in such a cozy, dramatic finished piece. This is my favorite type of garment to snuggle up in at home and it seemed like a perfect fit for these Around the House suites 🙂

The Celestial Poms Throw, on the other hand, is one of my newest patterns! Released just this past month in collab with Lion Brand Yarn, it’s already become a favorite for many reasons. It’s incredibly quick to whip up, those giant poms are just luscious, and it’s the kind of thing you want to make in every color for each room of the house.

The Daybreak Crochet Tapestry is another new design that I created for National Crochet Month in March. This piece brings such much needed whimsy and cheerful energy to the house. It can be created with any sort of stash yarns and produces such a unique and funky piece of art for your wall whether it’s hung above a couch or a bed or as an accent in your office.

When I designed the Fireside Wrap, I pictured the wearer being huddled up next to a roaring fire in a cozy cabin somewhere in the mountains. While your own home might be a far cry from that, wearing this can definitely send you there in your mind. This oversized wrap adds a layer of warmth and comfort while camped out on the couch.

The Harold Cardigan is a super comfy “grandpa” style cardigan that is so easy to throw on when you’re hanging at home and looking for something that’s both cozy and makes you feel a little more put together than, say, a fuzzy cheetah print robe (I know this for sure because I have been living in said fuzzy cheetah print robe, haha).

The last pattern in the crochet suite comes from my 2015 “February in Paris” collection, which is a series of knitting and crochet patterns that only need one skein of bulky weight yarn to complete and are all beginner-friendly. The Rue des Abbesses Catch All Bowl does just that – catches all! These are so quick to make you can make one for every room of the house in a single day. Hold keys and matches in the front room, remotes in the living room, knickknacks in the kitchen, and jewelry in the bedroom.

The Chevron Waves Bath Mat comes with instructions for two different sized mats so you can be sure to find the size for your own bathroom. You could easily work this up in a fuzzier yarn for a bedside rug as well! I love how the simple mosaic stitch colorwork pattern creates this mesmerizing pattern.

The Hearthstone Wrap is one of those pieces you will reach for again and again on a chilly morning (or any time of the day!) to wrap up in as you sip on your coffee and gaze out the window. It’s such a cozy piece for staying at home and will transition into a fashionable statement piece when we are all able to leave the house!

The One Fine Day Cardigan is one of my favorite effortlessly chic pieces ever! It’s such a great pattern for “knitflixing” and the finished piece is so comfortable to wear. Despite it’s oversized silhouette, it’s actually a pretty lightweight layer that’s a great transition piece between seasons.

If you’re looking for a funky and super statement piece for the home, the Sheepskin Chair Throw is your best bet. It’s so fun to watch this piece come to life, and it looks SO cool when it’s finished. I constantly get compliments on this thing and have been meaning to make more for each room of my place as it’s such a great accent for a chair, the floor, or the back of the couch.

The Taos Lap Blanket may be small, but it is mighty. This makes such a special baby blanket (I actually designed it for a friend’s newborn!) or a gorgeous throw for the couch or a chair. It’s also great as a car blanket but these days you are probably not seeing much driving action. This is the perfect blanket design to freshen up your decor.

The Thistle Market Bag is an elegant bag perfect for storing groceries or your latest project. With Earth Day coming up, using handmade reusable bags like this is a great way to reduce your plastic consumption in style.

Last but definitely not least is the Waverly Hand Towel. This lovely lady was designed for Earth Day last year and is still one of my favorite patterns. The slip stitch waffle technique used for this texture is so addicting, you will be making these left and right! Take the time now to make several for gifts later in the year.

STAY TUNED FOR NEXT MONTH’S SUITE! CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THE THEME WILL BE?
