Artist and knitwear designer Kate Jenkins creates all sorts of delectable dishes out of yarn. I’m not talking about things that are good for your health—think cakes, cookies, and a lot of bread. The knitted pieces are lifesized recreations of noms we love with an added dash of wit. Kate will sometimes add funny faces to her foods to take an already playful format and make it even more whimsical.

After learning to knit and crochet at the age of eight, Kate realized that she was better at “interpreting an idea by creating it in 3d using wool rather than through painting or drawing.” She went to college for fashion and textiles and had a successful career as a knitwear designer. Eventually, she pivoted her focus. “I was always looking for different ways to use my love of wool, textile, and color,” she writes. “And that’s how my art was born. The everyday has always fascinated and inspired me, particularly food. So I began to take things we all know and love – like fish and chips—reinventing them in wool.”

Kate sells a selection of her work in her online shop, and you can follow her on Instagram to see what she’s cooking up next.
