Nestled amongst the charming cobblestone streets of London is Henrietta Hotel. Designed by Dorothee Meilichzon from Chzon, the hotel lives up to the firm’s reputation of designing hotels that are a true reflection of their neighbourhood. Filled with a mix of eclectic pieces, the Henrietta Hotel is a must-see for any design lovers passing through London.

Like most of her hotel interiors, Meilichzon has executed the interior with dramatic character. The interior design is filled with classic, contemporary and retro elements, with a slight Italian aesthetic. Each room is slightly different in style, offering a unique visual experience through the contrasting colours, patterns and tones featured in the furnishings and finishes. The retro aesthetic is further evoked through the playfully shaped furniture and wall mouldings in each room. Across each interior space, Meilichzon further showcases her sophisticated design sensibility through the way she uses materials, for example the way white Carrara marble is used for the skirting and border of the patterned carpet in each room. This mix-match of materials encapsulates the theatricality and status of the hotel, creating a distinct visual identity.

The feast isn’t simply visual either. All of your dining desires are taken care of at the hotels’ very own restaurant, where chef Ollie Dabbous has carefully curated a menu of simple, seasonal meals inspired by France. The cocktail menu is designed by historians and is said to take you on a journey down the locations storied past. In fact, it almost feels like you have stepped back in time when you enter the dining room, where velvet and patterned emerald green dining chairs are paired with midcentury modern tables, a nod to the heritage of the building.
