STAY:

I am having a moment with Mornington Peninsula. I found myself there with some friends last year, and really fell in love with the place. I love that unique combination of Aussie bush, with vineyards in between, ending abruptly in wild coastline. I only had two days there, and really packed a lot in, but there’s still so much I’d like to check out. On my list for next time are a stay at the new boutique hotel Jackalope in Merrick’s North, horse riding on St Andrews and Gunnamatta beaches, doing the full Bushranger Bay walk from Cape Schanck, and lunch at Montalto estate.

LISTEN:

I am listening to Radiohead’s album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ whenever I fly, as it’s the only album I have on my phone. I’m not a die hard Radiohead fan, but this album through headphones is pure magic. Haunting, layered melodies. Really beautiful stuff.

DO:

I am planning on getting to the theatre more. Having seen Speed the Plow at the Sydney Theatre Company late last year, I was reminded of the intimacy and immediacy of theatre. It’s so different to seeing a film, it’s really very exciting! Richard 3 is next for me, with Kate Mulvany playing the lead.

EAT:

I am daydreaming of an exceptional meal I had recently at Africola in Adelaide… such an innovative menu featuring local produce prepared in a North African way. I’ve never had so many new flavours, and enjoyed them all so throughly! In typical South Australian fashion the serves are super generous, you will not leave feeling hungry. And the decor! I can’t wait to get back!

WEAR:

I am lusting after EVERYTHING in the new Zimmermann collection. EVERYTHING! The Zimmermann sisters are nailing it, collection after collection. Their spring drop is heaven, taking inspiration and its name, from the 1980’s Sydney Nightspot ‘Stranded’. Nicky Zimmermann describes it as being inspired by New Romantics, but the ethereal, piratey, sexy side. They ace lace, every time. Floaty lace tops, man style trousers, lace up details, asymmetric skirts, low backs… beautiful, original, and Australian.

WATCH:

I am watching Vice Principals…Featuring Bill Murray, Danny McBride and Walter Goggins, this show set in an American high school is as dark as a dark comedy can be. McBride and Goggins play vice principals who embark on an epic power struggle to get the top job after Murray steps down as principal to tend to his ailing wife. The two vice principals are terrible humans, which makes for real car crash viewing…how low can they go!?

SEE:

I am planning an upcoming milestone birthday trip to India. It seems it’s never been more accessible to get to and around. I’m hoping on getting to Udaipur (the white city), Jodphur (the blue city) and Jaipur (the pink city) and also to Goa to see how Portuguese Colonisation shaped the architecture and cuisine. An added bonus would be if I could make it to Kerala, but much like our vast continent, a few weeks is not going to be enough to take it all in.
