If you are moving into a new home or in the process of redecorating your space, you know how it can be a daunting process to make it complete. One of my favorite home decor items are candles they instantly brighten your home and help make your space welcoming. And the good news here is that you can easily make a few to fill each room. Inspired by the colors of palm spring today, we will be making these classic saucer candle holders with a twist that is getting them painted in bright colors for the modern home.

Steps:

Place a saucer over a rolled out piece of clay. And trim around the edges. Smoothen any roughness prevailing
before approaching the next step

Roll out a 2 X 6 inches piece of clay and wound it around your candlestick. Cut off the excess and smoothen the newly shaped cylinder that will be used to hold the candlestick.

Spray some water in the middle of your saucer shaped clay and place your cylinder shaped clay piece. I found my candle holders sturdy and not in need of glue, but you go ahead and apply some glue inside later on if you want it to be extra sturdy

In order to get the desired shape, we will insert it into a bowl and let it dry for a day. The next day you can remove your candle holder and leave aside for the bottom to dry.

Come back again with your choice of colors prepared. We will brush the insides of our candleholders and leave the exteriors as it is for a beautiful contrast ( we don’t want to oversaturate it )

You now have yourself a set of colorful candle holders much inspired of the color rush at Palm Springs.

When I first thought of this project it didn’t involve that much color, but I am glad I took this route as I couldn’t be happier with the result. A little pop of color here and there works best for me, however, you can choose to keep it simple white or go for an even lighter pink and gray for a Scandinavian look if that’s what your style is . You absolutely have the freedom to change it to suit your aesthetics
