Reflecting his studio’s core philosophy of considered simplicity, and its holistic approach to enduring design, has created two furniture collections, Coast and Monument. Evoking memories of the landscape, the Coast Furniture Collection is inspired by travel, adventure and freedom. Designed to bring a sense of calm, and sustainably made for a relaxed life, the beautiful pieces are showcased below in one of Daniel Boddam’s residential projects, Tallow Beach Villa, located in Byron Bay.

The Coast Collection looks right at home in this Byron Bay villa. In the living room, the acts an indoor sun lounger, proportioned to enable two sitting styles, and especially good for slouching. Made from timeless rattan, this can be paired with a choice of three wood and three frame finishes to suit any interior.
The Malibu Table Series is inspired by the surfboard, a form that resonates with all coastal lovers, it represents a connection with nature and with freedom. The tables re-interpret the classic shape of the surfboard with sumptuous edges that are pleasing to touch. Carved from solid oak, they bring a sense of the beach indoors. The Tallow Beach Villa features the , (as a coffee table) and which works well in both the living room, and as bedside tables. The tables come in four oak finishes including natural, smoked, limed oak and black-stained.

Malibu Dining Table and Canvas Chairs
In the kitchen, the Malibu Dining table is paired with the , a homage to campfire furniture, designed for both the indoors and outdoors. Elegant and versatile, the dining chair cleverly features a triangular shape derived from the boomerang. What’s more, the canvas can be easily removed and machine washed as desired.

Monument Side Table
Influenced by his experience of monumental architecture while travelling through Europe and the Americas, Daniel Boddam’s Monument Collection explores the architecture of the ancient world through the lens of modern design. Here the pieces are showcased in a beautiful Victorian home, Conigrave House, in Hunters Hill.
Designed with an eye for architectural detail and a deep understanding of how to balance form with feeling in contemporary interiors, Monument is a tribute to considered simplicity, pure form geometry and the permanence of natural materials. The Monument Table series, which comprises a , and , came through observing El Castillo, in Mexico. Architectural elements from its pyramidal form have been fused into the table’s design which features a slender metallic mid-section that lifts the floating top to express the duality of earth and sky. Each part – the base, support and top – are distinct in form and material, a practice reminiscent of the simplified and streamlined works of sculptor Constantin Brâncuși.

Striking on its own, the is available in three different pole heights, allowing them to work beautifully in a group. All of the Monument tables are offered in a choice of finishes, with the option of tops crafted from fine Italian marbles.
Le Corbusier’s modular man and the Golden Section define the proportions of the . One of my favourite pieces overall, the table is a study in scale, conceived as a simple rectangular mass hollowed out at key points producing architectural details. Steps are carved from one corner and a ‘room’ is on the other, creating a recess for books and objet d’art. An oculus has been carved into the ‘ceiling’ of this ‘room’, bringing light to its interior, like a miniature Pantheon. Such a clever and unique design!

The Monument collection also includes a beautiful design in rattan. A timeless and practical addition to any interior, the and takes design cues from the Parthenon’s structural columns, with delicately balanced proportions and tapered legs. Leaning slightly inwards, the legs give the illusion of straight lines, adding a beautiful lightness to the overall silhouette.
