Granny Hearts for Valentine’s Day. Something that is quick to make and always good fun for decorating or giving away. I thought I’d share the pattern with you all so you can start making your own hearts for all those little ideas and projects that you’re surely seeing in mind.

Granny Hearts para el día de San Valentín. Algo rápido de hacer y que siempre es muy divertido para decorar o regalar. Pensé compartir el patrón con todas vosotras para que podáis comenzar a hacer vuestros propios corazones para todas esas pequeñas ideas y proyectos que seguramente tendréis en mente.

I’ve decided to call them Granny Hearts because the pattern is based on the tradicional granny square stitch.

He decidido llamarlos Granny Hearts porque el patrón se basa en la puntada del granny square tradicional.

My colour choices were garnet, turquoise, pink and ivory, but I hope you let your creative imagination run wild…

Material: 100 % 4ply cotton yarn (Used in this project Catania, Schachenmayr: Ivory 105, Turquoise 146, Pink 222 and Garnet 192).
Hook: 2.5mm
Measure: 15x12cm aprox

Row 11: Ch 3, skip next 4 sts and make 4 dc in the next ch. Ch 3, skip next 3 sts and make 1 sc in the next st. Ch 5 and make 1 sc in the sc 2 rows down. Ch 5 and make 1 sc in the next st. Ch 3, skip next 3 sts, make 4 dc in next ch and make 1 dc in the last st.
Border around the heart: Ch 1 + 1 sc + 1 picot in the first st. *Ch 3 and make 1 sc + 1 picot in the next intersection between two rows*; rep ** until the end of the round. Ch 3 and join to the first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.

Hacer 3 cads, saltar los sgtes 3 ptos, hacer 4 pa en la sgte cad y hacer 1 pa en el último pto.
Borde alrededor del corazón: Hacer 1 cad + 1 pb + 1 picot en el 1º pto. *Hacer 3 cads + 1 picot en la sgte intersección entre dos vueltas*; rep ** hasta el final de la vta. Hacer 3 cads y unir al 1º pto de la vta con 1 ss. Cortar el hilo y rematar.

I made some hearts more, but using mercerized cotton thread to work with a 1.5mm hook this time, to decorate some recycled glass jars.

Hice algunos corazones más, está vez usando hilo de algodón mercerizado para trabajar con aguja de 1.5mm para decorar estos tarros de cristal reciclado.

I finish this photo-shooting spending some time outside with a morning coffee, in a sunny (but cool) winter day.

Terminé la sesión de fotos tomándome algo de tiempo para el café de la mañana en la terraza, aprovechando que era uno de esos raros días de invierno en los que afortunadamente luce el sol.
