I don’t know if this is a me thing or an everyone thing, but inspiration always seems to strike when I’m neck deep in working on something else. Sometimes I just jot down a note or send myself an email reminder of the brilliant idea, but sometimes I have to drop everything I’m doing and execute immediately. Such was the case with the Annie Bucket Hat, a gloriously soft and fluffy faux fur hat that basically hasn’t left my head for the last two weeks since the moment it was finished. I’m still drowning in other work, but I think everyone needs one of these babies asap so I put everything on pause to share it as a free pattern below. As always you can
Ok I know you guys are also just as excited as I am about this hat because I’ve never received so many comments and reactions on an Instagram story as I did when I shared the Annie Bucket Hat. Who knew that an Annie Hall meets Jamiroquai mashup could cause such a sensation!? To be fair, fuzzy bucket hats are trending, which is probably why I wanted to make one to begin with, but I had no idea it would be so universally adored by my whole audience.
I ended up wearing the hat out to dinner that same night and everyone I encountered commented on it and asked where I got it! I had all of my friends try it on, and I must say it looked cute on all of them.
Lion Brand’s
Since this hat looks good on everyone, I decided the pattern needed to be written up in multiple sizes so it can truly be made for anyone and everyone. Since
Although this pattern uses beginner level stitches, I’m considering it easy level since it requires a bit of knowledge and understanding of how to feel for your stitches so you know where to crochet since you can’t see them. The only technique you need to know is how to single crochet in the round.

Ch – chain
Rep – repeat
Sc – single crochet
Sl st – slip stitch
St(s) – stitch(es)
Notes: Hat is worked in un-joined, spiral rounds from the top down. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the start of the round. Due to the nature of the yarn, the stitches are nearly impossible to see and will require an ability to “feel” for them in order to know where to place the next stitch. The fabric, however, is very forgiving and mistakes are also nearly impossible to see, so the most important thing is to ensure each round ends with the correct number of stitches rather than worrying about their exact placement. Pattern is written for four sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4).
