Looking for a creative outlet to channel your feminist pride? Feminist cross stitch patterns and feminist embroidery patterns have been popular in the past few years and I rounded up some of my favorites. Traditionally a demure and “lady-like” craft, needlework has become more popular with modern stitchers looking to express different values. The patterns I picked range from inspiring people to warning them; it is hard to choose a favorite!

“Grow a pair” embroidery pattern* from Shelly Sells Lemonade – We all know women can tolerate more pain so this seems totally appropriate to the traditional phrase.
Future is female cross stitch pattern* from andwabisabi – Simple and true, if you haven’t read the reports of how many female candidates are running this year in elections!
“Don’t tell me to smile” cross stitch pattern* from Plastic Little Covers – There are lots of anecdotal and academic writings on the expectations for women to act happy and look pretty, and this serves as the perfect antidote.
“Badass women” cross stitch series* from Badass Crossstitch – Several female leaders from around the world and their famous sayings. Perfect for a nursery.
“You are enough” cross stitch pattern* from Junebug and darlin – Companies spend millions selling products to make you look a different way, but guess what, you can opt out so here is a stitched reminder.
“No wrong way to have a body” cross stitch pattern* from Love Angel Decor – Last but not least, I love this one. I hate the phrase “bikini body” and how saying something “flattering” means a very specific body type. Your body is moving you, sustaining you, you should love it. Read more about how sewing & body positivity have intersected for me in this old post!
