A year ago, I wrote a blog post about five female travelers you should follow on instagram and how these women fed my wanderlust on a daily basis. Twelve months later, I am still scrolling down my feed when I am at home, to get inspired by other people’s travels. This year, I discovered a good amount of amazing accounts. Amongst them, a few were managed by women. So, I thought: why not step up my game and, this year, create a new top ten? And so I did. I hope you enjoy following these women just as much as I do: They take amazing pictures, but above all they embody what to me being a travelette is all about!

Lauren Bullen: The wandering gypsy

Lauren is only 23 years old, but this young Australian photographer has already traveled most of the world. Because yes, that’s her job. She mostly travels with Jack, her partner, who also happens to be an amazing photographer. “I self-taught myself how to photograph over the past couple of years, and am now lucky enough to be able to use this skill to create unique content around the world” she says. Lauren also runs a blog, where she writes about lifestyle, travel and fashion.

Emilie Ristevski: The visual artist

Emilie Ristevski is forever wandering, camera in hand. She likes to tell stories with her photography that are built upon natural light and nostalgia. Emilie has her own photography style and that’s probably what makes her so special. Emilie almost never shows her face on her pictures; she wants the audience to focus on what’s around, on the beautiful setting rather than on her own person. That’s probably one of the things I like the most about her account.

Anne Cui: The design enthusiast

Apart from my passion for travel, I am in love with design. So it should come as no surprise when I tell you that I fell in love with @anneparavion’s account when I came across it. Anne is not a professional photographer, yet she always manages to take amazing pictures. She focuses mostly on details in the cities she visits: doors, steps, beautiful flowers and markets. Anne has her own singularity and that is probably what makes her account stand out. You should definitely check out her feed!

Lucy Laucht: The Brit story-teller

When I came across Lauren’s blog, I instantly fell in love with her work. If you’re fond of photography, you’ll certainly like Lucy. This writer and photographer left the rainy shores of England some nine years ago for a year long, round-the-world backpacking adventure where she met her soulmate at a noodle stand in Bali and never really looked back. With her husband, she now lives on the road, traveling in a 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia camper across America.

Kristin Addis: The travel muse

Apart from being an instagrammer, Kristin is a true travel blogger. This former investment banker left California a few years ago to travel the world, and she never looked back. Since then, she has hitchhiked solo across China, climbed some of the tallest mountains in the world, been on safari in Africa, spent two months hiking in Patagonia, and even became a Buddhist nun for 10 days. And in between all that, she even found the time to write a book, simply called “How to solo travel the world fearlessly”. True inspiration – just saying!

Elisabeth Brentano: The nature lover

Elisabeth Brentano is a freelance blogger/photographer specializing in lifestyle, travel and nature content. After working as a news producer on a daily show for a major cable network, she switched to online publishing in 2008. Passionate about wildlife and outdoor scenarios, she lives for an adventure, and if she’s not stuck in front of the computer writing or editing, she’s either hiking, camping or on her way to the nearest airport. If you wish you could spend the rest of your life in the mountains or the forest, then Elisabeth will definitely feed your wanderlust.

Hildegunn Taipale: The picture-perfect one

If you take a look at her account, Hildegunn seems to have the perfect life. She is amazingly beautiful, always seems happy and spends her time traveling the world with professional photographer Samuel, her hubby. Everywhere they go, the couple manages to take the most beautiful photos, ones that can easily make you die of envy. Samuel and Hildegunn have grown a huge following on both of their instagram accounts, and have now hundreds of thousands of fans. Take a look at their shots and you’ll probably become one!

Laura Diamond: The outdoor bohemian

Laura Diamond aka @larabohemia is a landscape photographer who spends most of her time outdoors. She hikes mountains, goes kayaking in transparent blue waters, walks around cities or simply wanders endlessly in the desert. Her account is colorful and the photos are simply stunning. Laura seems to travel most of the time on her own, which makes her work even more impressive.

Leah Naomi: The adventure addict

I had only read Leah’s quote on Instagram and I already liked her account. “If you like pizza and adventures then I think we’ll get along” it said. I thought so too and so I gave it a follow. Like all of the other girls in this post, Leah seems to live a fantastic life, composed of delicious meals and beautiful settings. No wonder she’s always smiling!

Christian Schaffer: The tireless trekker

She might be last on the list, but this woman’s account is just as amazing as any of the others. A few years ago, Christian took a year off and traveled alone through the 5 continents. Now based in the US, she immerses herself in wild places, has trekked for 24 days along the John Muir Trail and road tripped for weeks at a time through the national parks. “For me, few things can compare to a night under the stars, surrounded by mountain peaks, trees and good people” she says. I couldn’t agree more!
