And now, you can add Pottery Barn’s latest venture to that list: a collaboration with famed resort wear brand Lilly Pulitzer. The company’s breezy bohemian style is well-known in the fashion world, thanks to its iconic shift dresses available in a multitude of sunny prints and patterns. Now, it’s bringing some of that laid-back style to home decor.
Announced last month, this collaboration is extra special for the brand, since it’s the first time Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and PBteen will simultaneously release a coordinating collaboration in order to create a seamless look for every room in the home. Spanning bedding, furniture, and decor for the bedroom, nursery, kids’ room, and lounge, the collection is inspired by Lilly Pulitzer’s signature take on beachwear.
“This is the first time we’ve launched a collection simultaneously across the board, and Lilly was the perfect [studio] to do that with,” Allison Spampanato, Senior Vice President of Product Development at Pottery Barn and PBteen, tells Domino. “[The] line is so fun, but it’s ageless, it’s multigenerational, so they’ve really been a terrific partner.”
While each collection plays with a multitude of prints and colors to create a cohesive aesthetic, it’s interesting to note that the style of each collection is still notably different—the PBteen line features more graphic designs and bolder colors, while the Pottery Barn set goes a little more neutral. The Pottery Barn Kids line is a rainbow paradise, in which bright pinks and greens blend seamlessly against pops of white and neutrals. We’re particularly obsessed with the Palm Beach-inspired lamp ($199) from the PBteen line, as well as the sea print sham and quilt ($249, Pottery Barn), which seamlessly blends all those bright summer colors in intricate designs.
“Everything has been hand-painted by the Lilly Pulitzer Studio, and that attention to detail is really intricate and beautiful,” Lilly Pulitzer CEO Michelle Kelly tells Domino. And while almost every print has been inspired by a past collection, a print exclusive to Pottery Barn called ‘Home Slice’ was also released—a pretty pink hue on a green and white background, inspired by the fruits of the summer. “Lilly Pulitzer is also going to be selling clothes in this print as a newly-released collection in celebration of the launch,” adds Kelly.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a truly complete collection without some sun-inspired party tools. Entertaining essentials and outdoor items are also included in the release, allowing you to truly plan for a blissful summer of friends, family, and food.
We love the pretty beach towels inspired by mermaid prints ($29, Pottery Barn Kids)—they’re the perfect accent for a boring white beach chair. Other great options include the teal outdoor cushion ($129, Pottery Barn), striped millennial pink mahogany armchair ($149-$499, Pottery Barn), and an ocean blue striped indoor-outdoor rug ($399-$649, Pottery Barn).
However, if the concept of all these prints and colors doesn’t appeal to you, Spampanato suggests starting small. “You can add a pop of color with the wallpaper, or just use one of the accents to spruce up a tablescape. You can go as small as a throw, and we’ve made sure the options stay relatively affordable, as well.”
A few glam suggestions? Maybe the sunny pineapple-shaped snack bowl ($29.50, Pottery Barn) for a decorative accent against an all white tablescape, or a bright gold and white decorative pillow ($59.50, Pottery Barn) in a neutral room. Whatever your style, there’s a way to bring those summer vibes home, even when it’s absolutely frigid outside.
