we’re sticking closer to home this week because there is just so much going on in Downtown Los Angeles’ bustling Arts District now that we’re post-covid and i love letting y’all know when a favorite spot is back and ready for business. i’ve long been hearing from friends that i’ve got to get to this sweet new spot — bavel. not only is it pretty, but their Mediterranean menu is meant to be shared among family and friends and reported to be absolutely delicious. think flatbreads and spreads, cured Middle Eastern meats, and cold & hot small plates — my favorite way to eat. exposed brick is contrasted by feminine touches like rose gold barstools, Moorish white archways in a gorgeous light-filled space. we’re headed there for dinner and dressing with an ode to our femininity but on the funky side, in a crocheted top and cable-knit bra, our favorite faded flared jeans with some funky retro platform shoes, a paisley sun hat, and some fun drop earrings. and some good news? if you can’t get there for a while, they’ve got cookbook — check out the new Bavel: Modern Recipes Inspired by the Middle East by Ori Menashe — the next best thing to eating there. yum!
