You may well be familiar with the story that started with a pedal bin. Out of the unique beginnings of Danish brand Vipp in the late 1930s, a legacy was born, built on an ideology of fewer but better products. Today, the bin looks largely the same as when it was first made; its functional criteria sewn into each and every Vipp product.

At est we’ve long admired Vipp’s offerings. From chatting with Chief Designer at Vipp, Morten Bo Jensen and entering his family home, coveting a stay in the Vipp shelter or the homes centred around Vipp kitchen modules, we know Vipp ripples are felt around the globe. But thanks to Cult, the Vipp presence is now closer than ever, launched for the first time in Australia at Cult’s Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane showrooms. The immersive concept spaces let you enter the world of form and function – of kitchens designed to be used every day for a lifetime. Most pointedly, seeing the full scale kitchen, bathroom, lighting and furniture in the flesh, you can truly appreciate the weight of avoiding trends at all costs.

To celebrate Vipp down under, we step inside the interiors brought to life by Vipp kitchens – no compromise, no fuss – all function.

There can be hesitation introducing the new into a heritage home. But the owners of a rare French farmhouse weren’t reluctant introducing Vipp – after all, it was an enduring legacy of quality that drew them to the brand. In Saint-Remy De Provence, France, the traditional ‘mas’ stone house was revitalised by the black steel kitchen, with a fully integrated sink, Vipp kitchen tap and a Vipp bin close at hand. The Vipp island module provides an open-plan cooking environment, elevated by legs – for easy cleaning and uneven floors – and dressed by Vipp ceramics. The rounded edges and a powder-coated cabinetry soften the industrial materiality and ensure this extra special kitchen will last a lifetime – just as the home’s stone walls.

Moving from the US to downtown Gothenburg, the owner’s of this Swedish apartment vowed to fill it with items they would keep for the rest of their lives. With this Northern European sensibility, it was Vipp that fit the bill with thoughtful, solid design. In the kitchen, the Vipp wall module adds maximum storage to the space, while the Vipp cooking hood effectively ventilates with stainless steel details and powder-coated aluminium. Spot the Vipp floor lamp and side table as integrated assistants in the bedroom and living areas.

The Bunkers B&B is located in Knokke-Heist, along the Belgian coast. The bespoke stay is heralded by a Vipp kitchen that sits right at home in the restored concrete structure. Just as the beachside experience, Vipp is personalised, down to each predefined appliance, fixture and fitting. The devil is in the details – or rather, in the kitchen draws, equipped with dishwasher-proof cutlery inserts, removable mats and silicone profiles to protect the breakables. The Vipp wall module moulds with a custom-made bench top in the kitchen and under Vipp pendant lighting, while black accessories punctuate the grey hues.
