This Was the Last Colour We Expected to Take Off for Summer 2019
Lime green wasn’t meant to be the colour trend of the summer but—surprise!—it is. Look to our fashion predictions for spring/summer 2019 and you’ll mostly see of lots of beiges and neons. True, green could fall under the neon umbrella but we expected pink (more flattering) or orange (Pantone‘s colour of the year) to be the bigger hit, which is why we didn’t see lime green coming, despite it’s growing presence last year with “green aesthetic” starting to pop off on Pinterest. While we pride ourselves on knowing what’s coming next when it comes to trends, sometimes our crystal ball doesn’t give us everything—which is great because otherwise fashion would be boring.
As well as keeping us on our toes, lime green is injecting our summer wardrobes with some much needed fun and joy. The beauty with this hue is that it genuinely works with lots of other shades in your wardrobe. Only love muted tones of black, beige and white? Good news, it looks exceptional against all those colours and will make an outfit stand out. But if you’re more about bold prints and primaries, then you better believe that lime also works with those colours too.
The proof, however, is in the Instagram shot, which is why we’ve found loads of our favourite fashion friends wearing the trend. From bright ginghams to bags as well as trousers and dresses, there are plenty of ways we’ve seen lime being worn. So get some ideas on how you might style this trend then keep going to shop our edit of the lime-green pieces we now want in our wardrobes.
