It’s not often that we tell you about hot new releases in the suitcase department, but when something is truly innovative we feel you should know about it!

Let me ask you this: if you were to design a suitcase, to what would you pay attention? I can only speak for myself, but I would want to create a piece that is light, but sturdy. Stylish but affordable. And of course I would make it as versatile as possible.

When I read the press release that fluttered into my email the other day, which informed me that the new Spectra 2.0 by Victorinox (forever one of my favorite brands, thanks to those amazing Swiss army knives) was able to expand to up to 47% its size my jaw dropped for a moment. That’s kind of incredible to someone like me who is utterly incapable of packing a half-empty suitcase in favor of leaving room to purchase lots of great new stuff while traveling. It has happened on multiple occasions that I had to actually purchase a second piece of luggage to join me on my plane journey home (sounds familiar?). But now, all this is going to change.

It just takes a simple zip and a tuck and this incredible suitcase can be expanded as little or as much as you’d like. What else is new? The Spectra 2.0, unlike traditional suitcases, doesn’t open up in the middle but on one side, a bit like opening a lid. Personally I love this, because it means that my suitcase takes up much less space in my hotel room, leaving the whole place much more orderly than it usually would. The Spectra 2.0 even has the experts impressed, which is why it won the 2016 Red Dot Award for its remarkable design.

I also love the astonishingly light weight, due to the scratch-resistant Bayer polycarbonate it is made of, particularly when it comes in such a lovely feminine and sophisticated shade of red. For those looking for something a bit more understated, other colors such as grey, black and marine blue are available.

The Spectra 2.0 comes in different sizes, and I’m sure many will appreciate its expandable function, in the carry-on version especially. Save yourself a buck on check-in luggage and just bring this baby instead.

Because of its expandable quality I can use it for all my travels, both short term city trips and long term vacation. There are 4 rollers of course which are sturdy and extremely flexible. I’ve only had it for a month but I can already tell it was built to last. To read more about it and get an idea what the other colors and sizes look like, check out this website.
