Opening just 12 months ago,
WORDS
A sense of family is carried throughout the guest experience at The Lisboans. The team were determined to create a place with a strong sense of home, somewhere to share their passion and love for Lisbon with travellers to their city. From the minute you arrive in the lobby – where the team have a small office, and where music is spinning on vinyl – you are made to feel instantly welcome. A young, creative, dynamic team – whether it is Mario that greets you, or perhaps Marina or Nevena – they are all super fun, friendly and passionate about the city they call home, and love sharing their local recommendations with guests. No request is too big; nothing is too much trouble.
Whether you’re seeking a short or long term stay, The Lisboans’ light-filled and self contained apartments make them a perfect choice. With endless thoughtful and carefully considered design touches throughout, their apartments are simple yet beautiful. Art has been sourced from all over the world. Furniture has been designed especially by the team and made locally in the north of Portugal. Antique Portuguese tiles (azulejos) line the floor of each bathroom, each a different colour and print. Handwoven blankets adorn each of the beds – each with a unique colourway and custom made in the oldest and most renowned wool factory in Portugal’s Alentejo region. From antique furniture to modern details, every element is tactile and homely.
The best bit though? The breakfast bag that is left on your door each morning filled with a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice and some fresh bread and pastries. There is already milk and butter and jam in the fridge, and granola in the pantry. Nothing has been forgotten here. Every single tiny detail here has been thought of.
And soon (in fact at the end of this month), The Lisboans’ team will be opening their very own farm-to-table restaurant and grocery store next door. When we visited, the restaurant was still a shell…but we were able to sneak a peek of the boutique grocery store which is filled with dark-wooded and green interiors, and an incredible green/white printed wallpaper from England. Sharing the same name, ‘Prado’ (meaning meadow), these two new additions will make The Lisboans one of the city’s hottest places to be right now. Want in? Book a stay through their website
