This beautiful house is located on Ile de Re, a sunny island on the west coast of France. Its owner is Laurence Simoncini the co-founder of the French store Serendipity Paris. The surrounding marshes and salt pits inspired the owner and the architect Andre Blanchet for the outside appearance of the house. The interior continues this idea with raw materials, cement walls, concrete floors and wooden beams. The muted color palette is also inspired by the surroundings of the house – from the sand dunes, the low vegetation on the beach and the view through the windows. The atmosphere is complemented by furniture from salvaged wood crafted by local craftsmen and wooden sculptures that correspond to strange looking local trees. Thus, the interior comes to life without avoiding the initially seeked simplicity and minimalism.
