There seems to be a never-ending stream of beautiful homes from the Greek Islands to keep us jealous just when we think we’ve seen the last of them. Between the idyllic blue skies and the Aegean ocean, this summer house gracefully blends in with its surrounding landscape on the Cycladic island of Syros.

Block 722 Architects were responsible for designing both this residence and its neighbour, ‘Syros I’, though in contrast to its sister property, the design for this building had to tackle the steep and intense topography of the site. In doing so, the design is cleanly integrated to the natural landscape with a clean, square floor plan.

As a holiday home the design provides ample opportunities to unwind – whether in a hammock, stretched out across the bed or in front of the fireplace at night, relaxation is a non-negotiable.

Classic white walls are contrasted with natural stone and rough brick walls, finding a graceful balance with traditional Greek style and the rocky island landscape.
