Hey lovelies, the Nashville food coma has finally subsided and I’m excited to talk about my first look from the trip with a pair of diy summer pleated shorts I made from hacking a beloved pattern (v9075). This summer, I have been refusing to get in my “jeans and tee” summer routine. The cool thing about knowing how to sew, my dearest, are the endless possibilities to dress how you want!

Don’t get me wrong, my loves, I’m not hating on my jeans and tee friends (you know, I love you) but for me personally – I’m giving it up. Like my 90’s over-plucked eyebrows faux pas – quel nightmare.

As far as the pattern goes, I have blogged about this pattern before, it’s truly lovely and I trust it; as seen here and here. On the pattern, you will noticed the “grainline” line and that’s where I started to do my magic by altering the length of my pant at the hemline. Why keep the same hemline? It’s a wider leg fit to I can play that “it’s almost a skirt but NOT” sort of thing.

Step 1. Find grainline.

Step 2. Fold pant along the line to desired short length (see yellow below).

Step 3. Blend pant lines on the pant leg seams (seen in green below).
