Architecture can be twisted, sculptural, iconic as legendary architects have proven throughout time. A simple gesture may change a space as NE-AR architecture practice presents in their project, illustrated below. The elements of their great grand design are two twisted concrete columns, these shaping the modern residence in the redesign project.

The architects have described the existing site at first glance as “a deep dark dinning- living area with limited relation to the outside with a deficient connection between the kitchen and the private and public rooms. At the same time, the small size bedrooms were inefficient to cope with the actual family growth” .

The solution was a new extension, one that would separate the private spaces from the common, public ones.

Layout is further described by the architects:

“While the existing house will host two large bedrooms, the main bathroom in the ground floor and a secondary bedroom in the first level, all public areas will be linearly organized within the extension volume: open kitchen, dining place and the lounge area; all these spaces will share a wide open wooden terrace deck facing and open to the lake shore.”

The main element employed in the addition was reinforced concrete, a powerful enough structural composition that would allow four inverted beams to become the main load bearing vertical element in the home whilst integrating a spectacular fireplace, a powerful texture bold enough alone to express graphic values, form following function in a phenomenal statement of design.
