There is a museum in Zagreb that takes you down memory lane. It’s called Zagreb 80s Museum. There is a 60s museum too, but because I am a 70s child, which means I was a teenager in the 80s, I decided to go down that memory lane.

Now, I love the past and you all know my favourite historical period was the years from 1920s to 1950s if we exclude the Victorian era, and although I had a perfectly normal, ordinary and quite happy child/teenagehood, I am not particularly fond of the 80s nor nostalgic about it to be honest, although I thought that would change over the years. I shudder at the thought of hairstyles and clothes being popular then – not all, mind you. The interior design – cringe, cringe….But, as a vintage lover, there were things that I loved seeing once again, and now let me take you on a short tour!

The Museum is on the first floor of an old building in the historical part of the city – on  Radićeva  Street. It shows a replica of a flat and the everyday life in Zagreb in former Yugoslavia 80s and it represents a unique and interactive way that vividly portrays the past, the way of life and heritage, memories and emotions.

The Museum is completely interactive – you can put on music on the turntables, play the tape recorder, put on some 80s clothes, play games, type on the typewriter… Even get into the Fiat that greets you at the entrance.
