Recently, for Jordan’s birthday, I was put in charge of setting up an afternoon tea party for the team! After briefly flirting with the idea of doing something modern and unique I decided to stick with the old classic- pretty pastels. There’s something so dreamy and wonderful about a perfectly pastel tea party!
Here are some of the details…
There are just so many amazing sources for desserts in San Francisco. Since I’m not much of a baker, I headed straight to my favorites- Miette in Hayes Valley, has the most BEAUTIFUL vintage style cakes, meringues and candy. Just around the corner is Chantal Guillon with macaron flavors in a variety of perfect colors. Finally, the cute and delicious cream puffs are from Choux bakery.
The floral arrangement is from Birch. Also located in Hayes Valley, Birch consistently has the most gorgeous curation of flowers and greenery.
I’ve included a collection of mis-matched vintage and modern pastel tea cups – a combination of Jordan’s and my collection.
A friend of mine recently recommended ‘Paris’ tea by Harney and Sons and I am now completely addicted. ‘Paris’ is a black tea that is so fruity and flavorful it doesn’t require any milk or sugar. You NEED this tea in your life!!
I opted out of providing the traditional crust cut finger sandwiches because there was A LOT of food consumed throughout Jordan’s birthday and so only the sweet things made the cut!
And finally, no tea party would be complete without scones! I’m a huge fan of classic lemonade scones topped with strawberry jam and whipped cream (I personally prefer it to the traditional clotted cream). Of course, it’s always nice to include a choice of different jam flavors and/or lemon curd for your guests.
ALSO, have you checked out all the pastel goodies available in our shop? We have a whole bunch of new cake stands in the prettiest colors! Perfect for a tea party.
