Hello everyone, I have an exciting announcement to make about a photo competition that I’d love to see YOU enter! ! I am on the jury for a very exciting competition which has been organized by #Zuhausesein, an initiative by the here in Germany. This competition is global so anyone can enter (yeah!) AND it combines two of my favorite things – photography and design! No wait, three things… Photography, design and !
As you know, the imm Cologne is one of THE most important interior shows in the world, so how does all of this work together? If you are an interior enthusiast and love to take photos, please read on…
As mentioned, this is a photo competition and you don’t need to be a pro to enter – just send your BEST photo! There are 10 categories (listed below). You will need to select ONE category and then, submit ONE HIGH RES (300dpi) photo for that category. That’s it! You may submit one photo PER category if you like (so up to 10 photos total) but please enter only one time per category.
Categories: 1. Outdoor Living / 2. Tiny Spaces / 3. The hallway – the ticket to your home / 4. Kitchen Lover / 5. Relaxed sleeping / 6. The living room – my private retreat / 7. The bathroom – the private wellness temple / 8. Living with children / 9. Working at Home 10. Other forms of living (e.g. caravans)
Once the panel of judges (me included!) consider all of the entries, the winner will be chosen at a later day and each winner will be brought to Cologne (two tickets plus one overnight stay with a 500 Euro travel allowance for flight or train) for the imm Cologne fair in January 2020 where the winning 10 photos with the names of each winner be on display in a very prominent location at the fair. PLUS your photo will appear in a book called, “German Design 2020” that will publish at the enter of year by the VDM where you will, of course, be credited.
One winner per category will receive:
1. Outdoor Living: Prize from Janua, bowl “SK 07 Ritual”.
2. Tiny Spaces: Prize from Bordbar, lighting “Super Light”, in black.
3. The hallway – the ticket to your home: Prize from Schönbuch, wardrobe “Line” (the winner may choose any color from the photo shown in this post).
4. Kitchen Lover: Prize from Caussa, lighting “Fabella” in white.
5. Relaxed sleeping: prize from Vitamin Design, nightstand “Pfeife”.
6. The living room – my private retreat: Prize from Rolf Benz, footstool “Rolf Benz 953” in anthracite.
7. The bathroom – the private wellness temple: prize from Duravit, wall shelf “L-Cube”. The winner can choose the surface in which the wall shelf is to be produced.
8. Living with children: Prize from Hülsta, footstool “Birdy” in blue.
9. Working at Home: Prize from Tojo, cantilever chair in white/green.
10. Other forms of housing: Prize from Thonet, side table “S18”.

TO ENTER:
Send one email per photo/category to zuhausesein@real-communications.com with the name of the category in which you are entering along with your full name, date of birth, country, telephone, email, your Instagram name (and other social media channels if you have them) AND Please “like” the VDM channels Facebook (), Instagram () and Twitter ().
FINALLY: Please post the photo you’ve entered on your Instagram account using the hashtags and AT THE TIME OF ENTRY, and tag

TERMS + CONDITIONS: The competition is global; there are no country restrictions. You do not need to be a professional photographer to enter, all experience levels are welcome.’ You must be over 18 years of age. If you win, you will need to book your own travel to Cologne, however the VDM will reimburse you. The submitted photo must be high res, 300 dpi so smartphone photos are excluded. Please note that the winner retains copyright of their own image but agrees to VDM using it on their social channels, website or publications for an unlimited period for the purpose of the #Zuhausesein campaign. All sources will be acknowledged. The photo does not need to be new or only made for this contest, however it must be your photo, taken by you. The photo should relate to your home and your idea of #beingathome or #zuhausesein.
FINAL THOUGHTS: The 10 winners will be announced at the end of this month (August 2019). If you have won, you will receive an email and later, the VDM will also announce each winner on their social media channels as well as in a press release and the 10 bloggers on the jury (including decor8!) will share the winners on our blogs.
