Who doesn’t love a charming Swedish home, particularly when it is lived in by an interiors author with a eye for style but also in comfort and in making sustainable choices? This old house is the dwelling of author, journalist, and photographer Ida Magntorn, and comes complete with an apple tree garden, in Lund (south of Sweden). Would you like to learn more about Ida and her home? See her favorite Instagram accounts? Learn more about her favorite things to do at home? I’ve made a little interview below with lovely Ida, so please do follow along…

As mentioned, Ida is deeply involved in the world of interior and lifestyle, she works for interior magazines such as Elle Decoration, and has written many books in Swedish that have also been published in English and German. I have, HOME STORIES, and it is just a delight.

In her latest book, ETT HEM MED OMTANKE, Ida focuses on how to focus a bit more on sustainability and environmental thinking while still creating a beautiful home.

In addition to her journalistic work, she exhibits her fine art photographs (shown above) in galleries in both in Sweden and internationally, including Seoul, South Korea, and her latest exhibition in Paris. You can learn more about Ida and her work in this lovely interview HERE made by V Söderqvist.

Now let’s get back to Ida and her home. She lives in a 180 square meter home, which she owns with her husband Erik, our youngest son Olle, 5 years, and their two older children Mira and Måns who are away at school and stay with then from time to time. They also have two cats Tusse and Lakrits.

Here are few questions with Ida that may be of interest to you, I was so curious to hear her reactions to my questions.

What does home mean to you?

Home for me is a peaceful yet creative place, were I love to be with my family.

What do you love most about your home?

I love the light, the air, the atmosphere, the old windows, and all the green outside.

Often it is better to put away things than to add. If you do add something let it be plants, they give a room life, energy and comfort. Try to have open areas to let air and energy circulate. Create a comfortable place where it is easy to meet, to sit down together.

Favorite candle/scent?

Right now I have the scent Grapefruit from L:A Bruket

Favorite thing to do at home?

Sitting around the table with my family discussing and listen to all their thoughts and dreams.

Favorite meal to cook?

I do not cook very often, my husband does. I do the cakes.

When you have people over, how does that usually play out? Do you cook, order out, play games, watch films, etc.?

Since we just moved home from quite a long time in Paris, I think we will try to keep our French tradition apéro dinatoire -  wine and something small to eat rather than a big dinner.

I think green plants brings a very good atmosphere to a room, but I also love fresh flowers.

Red wine in the winter and white for summertime.
