There are few things more alluring in a sweltering Australian summer than an outdoor shower. As a classic beach shack feature or part of an expansive pool area, an outdoor shower is both a practical and aesthetically-pleasing addition – and what better way to rinse off the stresses of the day in your own outdoor spa? Sure, it’s not always that glamorous – some of our favourite looks are simply a shower head and mixer against a brick wall – but it’s the opportunity to take a minute amongst the natural scenery on a warm night (or morning) that is most covetable to us.

As outdoor showers become more commonplace, the styles to choose from have diversified, so you whether you prefer to keep it simple or totally embrace the outdoor bathroom experience with a revised layout and aesthetic, here’s nine of the styles and pieces inspiring our plans this summer.

Double Life House

Mixing bold geometric steel window frames, sleek concrete walls and just the right pop of greenery, this brass outdoor shower gets our vote for the ultimate urban extension.

English Tapware Outdoor Shower

True to form, English Tapware bring a sophisticated style to the outdoor bathing space with this brass set with porcelain handles. Simple enough to mix in with any decorating scheme without compromising on elegance, this is one classy choice.

Stone Creek Cabin

A remote Montana camp gets a luxury feature with this industrial style shower. The minimal layout of the shower works to soften contrasting materiality such as the timber and raw cement, while the low walls embrace the forest surrounds.

This garden shower from Space is the ideal choice for those wanting to join in the outdoor bathroom fun without investing in a permanent fixture. It’s simple copper frame and cement base should fit easily into any outdoor landscape.

Shelter Island Beach House

There was plenty to love about this Japanese-inspired beach house but the outdoor bathing spaces definitely took the cake. In keeping with the home’s restrained, natural style the shower fixtures sit subtly in the timber decking, letting the impressive views take center stage.

A minimal, sleek style for all seasons, this free-standing thermostatic shower takes a modern approach to the outdoors. Depending on your design approach, this is the type of piece that can subtly blend into the space, or make a stylish impression.

Tara by Dornbracht

Though technically an indoor shower, we’ve heard the hardy materials and streamlined style of the classic Tara range are enough to withstand the elements in a protected outdoor setting. The striking matte black design has been a bathroom staple for the past ten years – now it’s just found a new niche.

San Giorgio Hotel

We fell madly in love with this Mykonos gem a little while ago, and while there is plenty to admire in hotel’s luxe bohemian aesthetic, these brass showers are certainly a standout feature. Taking in the Aegean blues against a rugged stone wall, these aren’t your average post-swim beach shower.

Levantine Outdoor Shower

While we’re guilty of a monochrome bias, these colourful freestanding outdoor showers make a case for having some fun and adding colour to an outdoor bathroom space. Sleek yet playful, these pieces could double as sculpture for the backyard!
