When it comes to inner-city Melbourne, decent greenery is a luxury unto itself. So when we were introduced to this new collection of residences in plum position opposite Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, our curiosity was immediately piqued.
Even more so when we heard one of our , was involved. Well, we’re pleased to report back to you that doesn’t disappoint. From its modernist heritage to the new Le Corbusier-inspired elements (not to mention the jaw-dropping views over the gardens, or the serene indoor-outdoor spaces), this is a truly unique collection of homes.

This collection of just three residences at sits opposite the south-east corner of the Royal Botanic Gardens – a jewel of a location in itself. Designed by Rob Mills Architecture (RMA), the architecture took its cues from the surrounding natural environment, drawing on soothing hues and grounding materials to create an urban retreat.
While each of the homes is undoubtedly luxurious, the jewel in the residence’s crown has to be the penthouse, with its soaring views of the gardens and downright jaw-dropping interior details. As we’ve come to expect with RMA, the luxury of the design comes not just from the light and space but also from the consideration of timelessness, of room to imbue your own style and grow within the spaces.
Regular readers will recognise the striking marble details on show throughout from many a social media feed over the last few months – and with good reason. Taking its inspiration from natural forms and materials, Kurneh Place unites RMA’s signature sculptural style with traditional English mews.
The architecture was again inspired by forms of nature, with the building’s curved exterior creating a visual link with its neighbouring Thirty Anderson. Flooded with light and appointed with all the stylish and sensible details you’d expect in a home of this calibre, it offers a relaxed yet elegant abode.
Uniting the classic and contemporary at 216-218 Domain Road, recasts legendary Modernist architect Marcus Martin’s architecture for a new era. The design thoughtfully brings together the historic fabric of the home with modern elements, creating a space that will appeal to both traditionalists and minimalists alike.
Walled gardens and extensive landscaping add private greenery to complement the nearby park, while the apartments are spoilt with extensive private courtyards and top-floor residences feature rooftop terraces to take in the city views. Key in creating a sense of modernity to the homes, the refreshed design offers extensive natural light and open spaces, while the signature classical details of the homes have been preserved.
As the more overtly modern of the two residences at 216-218 Domain Road, offers a contemporary foil to its neighbour’s more traditional features. Designed by , Garden Lane explores duality in many forms: the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, of natural and built environments and of light – from morning sun to dappled dusk.
Floor-to-ceiling windows fully embrace the park views below, while materials like stone, steel and timber help define the gentle luxury of the spaces.
