Ever wished you had a GIANT iron so applying vinyl, pressing seams or patchwork, and adding interfacing to fabric didn’t take so long?? Don’t have room for a giant heat press? Check out the new EasyPress 2! I used mine to make a no sew DIY Santa sack; it’s a fun way to “wrap” gifts without creating a bunch of trash. My husband reads my blog, so I can’t tell you what I’m planning to stuff in there for him this year, but I’m glad to have a stretchy bag to hold it!
The EasyPress heats up super evenly and smoothly, there aren’t any holes like a steam iron, and this huge plate makes big projects go quickly. This is the 12X10 size, it also comes in a medium 9X9 size, and a cute little 6X7 size.
It heats up super fast, you set the temperature so there isn’t any guesswork, and comes with its own little safety base so you don’t burn your table or yourself. There is a special mat (sold separately) that helps transmit the heat all the way through your project, instead of a traditional ironing board.
Cricut brand iron-on has a new StrongBond™ Guarantee on many of the iron-on materials, which means they will replace your roll if it doesn’t hold up as advertised when you apply and wash it according to directions (which vary depending on the type of iron-on). Knock on wood, I haven’t had any issues yet, and with a project like this it isn’t a huge concern since I don’t anticipate washing it often!
What do you think? Would your family like having a big bag like this holding their gifts? We have really been trying to move towards all reusable gift wrap, I cringe driving around after Christmas and seeing bins overflowing with disposable paper!
Step 1– Pull up the project file in Design Space. Make sure to MIRROR each one, otherwise your text will be backwards!
Step 2- Cut them all out!
Step 3- Weed all the nooks & crannies.
Step 4- Lay out all your pieces for a good visual. I started mine about 2″ from the bottom and left a good 8″ from the top for tying/stuffing.
Step 5- Measure and make sure everything is even, adjust as needed.
Step 6- Follow your EasyPress instructions and apply! Read each iron-on’s instructions for how long to press, whether to peel off when hot or cold, etc. Peel off the backing, stuff with gifts, and tie up with a ribbon.
