Equally, how a lean-to mirror interacts with light and space can transform an area of the home. The is a multi-faceted design by The circular mirror doubles as a sleek, black-framed clothes stand with a brass-coated steel trinket holder. Alain Gilles hoped for a piece that is as useful as it is compelling.
Danish design studio designed the to embody the spirit of Scandinavian simplicity. Norm Architects set out to find the simplest possible design solution without forgetting the importance of beauty, shape or details in the mirror’s concept and construction.
The reflects a traditional aesthetic, featuring thick glass with curved edges. The freestanding mirror, which can either be set vertically or horizontally, asserts a sense of glamour and boldness within a space.
Designed by Ettore Sottsass jr. for Poltronova in the late 1960s as part of the Mobili Grigi living and bedroom series, the mirror was the only piece to make it beyond the prototype phase in the collection. It features a wavy-textured white frame that glows bright pink when illuminated.
