I’m so happy to see everything that is going on within the design field at home these days. From the larvikite collection from in my previous post and the that I´ll introduce for you today. A lot more too, stay tuned – Norwegian design is present more than ever.
A part is a Norwegian furniture- and interior brand founded in 2018 by designer Bjørn van den Berg, designer Falke Svatun and studio Kråkvik & D´Orazio. A part collaborates and collects as well as produce limited and unlimited pieces, both objects and furniture. A part is an international brand working with designers and creatives worldwide. The collection is already in store at Kollekted by here in Oslo and will be available in selected stores worldwide and online.
Tumble, design by Falke Svatun. A vessel designed to challenge the conventional perception of a vase in shape, function and appearance. The cutout at the base allows it to sit on the edge of a shelf or sill, while still permitting the vase to balance on a flat surface. First exhibited at the Norwegian exhibition ‘’Structure’’ in Milan 2016. Launched by A part in 2018. Available in stoneware or terracotta.
Sheet Cabinet by Bjørn van den Berg explores the relation between hiding and exposing stored objects by changing the angle of the front sheets. The positioning of the hinges allows the doors to revolve in a 90 degree rotation from front to side edges, always remaining open from one or two sides. With a subtle hand movement the cabinet changes its sculptural expression, raising the question if it`s a shelf or a cabinet. The finish of the material adopts its surrounding depending on time of the day and positioning of the doors, making you aware of the moment. The cabinet where first exhibited at the Norwegian exhibition “Everything is Connected” in Milan 2017. Launched for A part in 2018.
Concrete table by Pettersen Hein is a made-to-order side table in colour-pigmented concrete. Every component of the table is individually casted and pigmented, making every table uniquely patterned. All tables are handmade at the artist’s studio in Copenhagen. Concrete Table is the first piece in the A part Limited Collection.
