Normally this time of the year I’m in the mood to spring clean, organise and redecorate. This year has been no different, in fact if anything the staying at home over the last weeks has made me try out so many new things in my interior. I have moved furniture and accessories and tried out different looks, one of them being a lighter look for my living room, which I’m so happy about. It’s a perfect look that match the sunshine that we have been getting here in Munich.  The piece that made the most difference to achieve this lighter look is this white rug.

Sukhi, which means “happy” in Nepali, collaborates with artisans around the world who make their rugs by hand with traditional manufacturing techniques, preserving the true craft of making a rug. The artisans are treated with dignity and respect and are payed fair wages, which helps them thrive. The brand wants their artisans to be happy (just as the name suggests) and don’t have middlemen, which allows them to keep their prices affordable.

I love the effect the Kalim white wool rug with a braided pattern has in my living room. It lightens the palette of this corner and I love how it contrasts with the darker, warm tinted wood of my floors. The braided texture, which has been carefully crafted in India, adds so much definition and combines wonderfully with the textures of the sofa fabric and the many pillow cases I have in there. The rug feels so soft to the touch and it’s tick enough so it feels like a cloud when you walk on it.

Other than the braided design of the Kalim rug, you can find many different designs in the Sukhi webshop. They produce beautiful Beni Ourain rugs with their artisans in Morrocco for example, or these felt ball rugs in Nepal, which are perfect for a kids room. It’s amazing to know that whichever country your rug is handcrafted in, it has been done in fair collaboration with their artisans.

This blogpost was written in collaboration with Sukhi rugs, however all words and opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and their beautiful rugs, make sure to visit their website or have a look at their Instagram account to see the artisans behind the rugs.
