NEW FAVORITE COPENHAGEN DINING AND CAFÈS

Its been a while since I shared some Copenhagen recommendations, but with summer and so many of you visiting this beautiful city its about time. I guess I don’t visit often enough, every time theres something new and cool going on. What I didn’t have time for this time was a visit to the new street food market at Refshaleøen, but locals told me its a really nice place so I think its safe to pass on the tip here. 🙂

Barr
This restaurant opened last year, also written about it here, and during 3 Days of Design in May I finally got to visit myself. Its designed by Norwegian Snøhetta and is located in the former home of Noma. Cross Inderhavnsbroen from Nyhavn and at the beautiful waterfront you’ll find the restaurant. Barr is focusing on the Nordics but also the broader food and drink traditions found in the region along the North Sea. Oak floors, original stone walls, leather upholstered chair, brass details and exposed original ceiling beams – it all comes together in a casual, warm Nordic expression. The restaurant’s name (Barr: meaning “barley” in old Norse), reflects chef and restaurateur Thorsten Schmidt´s fascination with the region’s food and drink history and culture. Classic dishes such as frikadeller (Danish meatballs), schnitzel and hot-smoked salmon is offered alongside a large selection of craft beers and aquavits. Very much recommended.

Located at Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro theres a fresh new place called Wulff & Konstali. Designed by Studio David Thulstrup in style of a classic diner but sharpened up with fresh colors and clean surfaces. With a friendly local vibe and a large outdoor sitting area you can enjoy the fresh sandwiches, salads and lunch dishes right there or bring it with you.
