MY TRAVEL DIARIES, ZÜRICH

I spent three days in Zürich last week and my first visit to the beautiful Swiss city blew me away. My good friend and colleague Katerina from Only Deco Love and I were invited to visit Marktgasse Hotel, and we made sure not to only enjoy the hotel but also to walk around and get to know the city a little bit. With a few recommendations and always helpful Instagram (thank you for all your tips and comments!) with us we found some nice places to share with you, which we enjoyed during our stay.

First of all, walk this city. You don´t want to miss the rivers, bridges, the old city and the lush green surroundings. When you´re tired, hop on a tram, but the city is managable to move around by foot too. Walk around without the map and get lost. You´ll end up in places you would pass by otherwise. Zürich felt very continental, a little bit French, Italian and German at once but with it´s own identity. Beautiful historical buildings, busy streets but without the usual big-city-noise. Clean, green and with a lovely atmosphere.

One of the first places we visited was Juicery 21. Cold pressed juices from the juicery in the basement (try my favorite, J12 Almond Milk), acai bowls, bagels, smoothies, coffee and porridge. Perfect for lunch, or a small break on your walk around town. The atmosphere here is so nice, and the small break might become longer than planned.. There is something special with the places where the owner is preparing your food and passionate tells you about his work. Juicery 21 is owned by a young Swede, and yes please, open a juicery in Oslo too. I´ll be a regular guest. You can see more photos of Juicery 21 on Katerinas blog here.

Another nice place to stop by is Sprüngli, centrally located at Parade Platz. Have coffee, macaroons and make sure to sit at one of the tables in the combined café and bar at the ground floor.

For a beautiful view over Parade Platz there´s a hidden gem located on a terrace at the top floor of the fashion boutique Grieder. Griederbar is accessed by the elevator inside Grieder, just ask the friendly staff for help if you can´t find it.

Bank (above) is a newly opened restaurant, and I recommend it both for dinner and lunch. The atmosphere is young and vibrant, casual and friendly. Have a drink at the bar and enjoy dinner among the locals. And for lunch, visit the in house bakery, John Baker. The tables in front of the bakery is popular in the sun and the food delicious.

And last, and my best recommendation for Zürich on a sunny day. Walk along the river Limmat until you reach Bellevueplatz. Buy your favorite ice cream flavour at the Mövenpick Ice Cream Gallery at Theaterstrasse 8 and sit down by the river to enjoy. Lots of people, music, beautiful swans and again the lovely atmosphere. Take me back!
