MY TRAVEL DIARIES // HOTEL HERMAN K

Days, even weeks is flying by. I dont even know what happened with March. Its a good thing, most of the time at least! A quick stop over in Copenhagen last week took me to Hotel Herman K, a small and luxurious boutique hotel by Brøchner Hotels. Making the most of a bonus night I´d saved up I decided to try out the hotel located in a old transformer station right next to Kongens Nytorv. Its super centrally located, you also have Magasin and Strøget literally right there.

The regular lobby is gone and instead you check in right in the hotel bar surrounded by spectacular 12-metres ceiling surrounded by industrial high class design. It was much smaller than I expected from the press photos I´d seen upon my arrival, but that way it felt more intimate. Nicer in a way, and with welcoming and friendly staff (something you’d expect a place like this but still a truly nice experience).

I’ve written about working from lobbies in previous hotel reviews and some are nice, some really dont have a good working environment at all. And of high importance for me while traveling for work since Id much rather sit down in the lobby for some hours to catch up on work instead of in my room. I love having people around and take in the atmosphere – it inspires me. This place was a good one for work, and they do serve amazing coffee – which is important too 🙂

The hotel has 31 rooms, from a small single room to the most luxurious penthouse suite over two floors and a private rooftop terrace. The beds are custom designed so you have your very own universe to control all the unique features of the room. I stayed in a standard double room, which is 18 sqm and it felt a bit small. But more than enough for this short stay. The bathroom was stored inside a marble box, of a good size and looking super fresh and modern. Soft carpets and organic shapes in contrast to the industrial concrete walls. What I appreciate is small details as fresh flowers, Aiayu textiles – and this I am going to try out next time at a Brøchner Hotel,  the running routes they’ve created that can easily be downloaded on your phone. I think it must be a good way of seeing the city a way you wouldn’t normally do (at least I wouldn’t), I wouldn’t have a clue on where to go for a run.

..and the breakfast. No need to say more. Organic with a la carte included.
