I popped into the Olsen Annexe today to check out the work of George Byrne – an Australian photographer living and honing his skills in Los Angeles. A collection of his work appropriately titled ‘Colour Field’ is currently showing at the Sydney gallery until the 17th of June. If you’re in the area, you must check it out – his images are so much more dramatic on a large scale. I was naturally drawn to the rich colours and celebration of the seemingly mundane. Of course, I’m now adding a print to my wish list for our new art collection that I am imagining for our place. I just can’t quite choose a favourite, can you?

There are a few Australian urbanscapes in the collection as well, which are just as incredible, but I was personally less intrigued by given they seemed less exotic to me. They just might be your cup of tea though.

I can’t help but feel that the colour play story was a little nod to this aesthetic without even realising.
