For their latest collection, Modernism Reimagined, Danish Brand MENU introduces softly minimalist designs that reimagine the clean lines, inherent function and natural materials of the mid-century modern movement. Here’s a look at the beautiful new collection pieces.

Umanoff Collection designed by Arthur Umanoff
Arthur Umanoff was an American-born industrial designer noted for his contribution to the American mid-century modern movement. He believed that design should not only be beautifully constructed and functional but that it should also be attainable. Using natural materials and new methods to reimagine traditional furniture pieces, he created versatile designs for the home that were celebrated for their quality as for their simplified, functional forms and staying power. Reflecting warmth and practicality, his designs were often imagined in wrought iron, rattan, walnut and birch, imbued with functional details yet retaining a sense of natural elegance thanks to their slender, tapered lines. MENU’s new Umanoff Collection consists of five  bold pieces.

Torso Table Lamp by Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen
Mads Sætter-Lassen and Emil Krøyer from the design studio Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen have created the Torso Table Lamp. One of my favorite pieces from the new collection, the Torso Table Lamp is inspired by the homes of the designers’ grandmothers, which were filled with atmospheric objects from bygone eras, shaped by human hands.

Houkime Rug designed by Nina Bruun

Following on from the success of the Gravel Rug, Nina Bruun has created another rug for MENU. The Houkime Rug is classic in its expression, woven in a ribbed pattern from plush cotton and tencel for a tactile finish. The timeless colours work with every interior style, adding elegance and warmth to spaces large and small.

Corbel Shelf

The modernist Corbel Shelf is a wall-hung podium that combines contrasting materials to arresting effect. The invention of design studio Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen, the versatile design in marble, dark stained oak and plated steel takes its name and design cues from architectural weight-bearing brackets traditionally made from stone or wood.

Perfectly proportioned for freedom of movement and sitting comfort, the wide back and generous seat are lightly padded and covered in one of a range of beautiful fabrics from the MENU collection.
