5 Furniture Makeovers To Make You Flip

Hello,  I’m Corey from  Sawdust 2 Stitches . I am so excited to be here at Remodelaholic again  to share with you some highlights from my site.  I have been blogging for 5  years about all of  my DIY projects. Most of them consist of new builds and room remodels, but I LOVE the challenge of a  re-purposing furniture.  So today I am going to show you 5  furniture makeovers that will make you flip!

 1.)  IKEA PAX

This is the piece that started it all! This project is one of the reasons I started blogging. I made created this apothecary,  and I started getting a lot of “how-to” questions, so I ended up writing it all down and decided to publish it. THIS little piece of deliciousness use to be an IKEA cubby shelf. Yup,  you read right, it use to be a boxy shelf.  You can read all about the transformation here. Featured Image

2.) Old Discarded Cabinet

Another favorite up-cycle of mine is a classic tale of  “necessity is the mother of all invention”.  In our last home we had very small kitchen that lacked counter space.  I did however have an old upper cabinet that was given to me at a garage sale because they ” just needed to get rid of it”,  well I worked with what I had and turned that free hand-out into a mobile kitchen island WITH tilt out garbage and recycling cans!  You can read more about how you can make your own here.

3.)  Garage Sale Dated Dresser (with a TWIST)

One weekend at a neighborhood garage sale I stumbled upon a SHORT, WIDE dresser that had really  good bones, and they were only asking $15… so I bought it.  I brought it home and stared at it for weeks trying to envision a new future for it. Well, sometimes when you are stumped you should try a different perspective. In this case I just needed to change it’s orientation.  That’s right, I turned that dresser on end, and turned it into this mini-mudroom!  If you want to see what it looked like before you can check out the “how-to” process here.

4.) Thrift Store Upper Cabinet

This is another up-cycle that started with a rather wide upper cabinet.  All I can say is, that is if you are interested in taking your furniture re-purposing projects to the next level you simply need to learn the art of building doors, and drawers!  They  can completely  change the look and functionality of a piece! If you want to learn more about how you can up your up-cycle game, you can get all the details hereCabinet Makeover Into Kitchen Sideboard

5.) Cheap Kids Dresser

I saved the best for last.  This is my personal favorite.  I took a dilapidated dresser and gave it a entire new look!  That is right folks, that sad looking dresser on the far left was transformed into a vintage looking Ice Box. I only have a few pieces of furniture that I refuse to part with.  This is one of them.    You can check out how I went about the makeover here.
