He loves the process of building from scratch
What do you love most about construction?
I love custom building and the opportunity to build something from scratch.
When you start a project, what are some things you want the client to understand or know?
The first thing that I usually do, even at the beginning of the estimate phase, is try to anticipate everything, even the slightest change orders, delays, and possible mix-ups. I always prefer to have money allocated for anything that might go wrong. We really try to focus on giving the budget at the beginning and inform the client about our process, schedule, and what to expect. If there’s anything that they don’t like, we want them to feel free to let us know and not to be worried about asking us to change something.
Describe your ideal client.
Someone who has hired an architect or a designer and has done all the research they can.
What is your favorite project that you have worked on?
An apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan that could compartmentalize into different rooms and open up into one big area. A lot of work and thought went into it. They hired an architect and we built the metal rolling walls.
If you weren’t doing construction, what would you be doing?
How do you like your coffee?
Milk, one sugar.
