He built a chain of restaurants in South Africa!
Where are you from and how long have you been in construction?
I’m from Los Angeles. I’ve been in construction for 15 years.
How did you get into this industry?
I got into this industry by default. Having been in the restaurant industry and having designed and built a chain of restaurants in South Africa before coming back home to live in Los Angeles, I was offered a job with a construction company which resulted in me getting my contractor’s license and ultimately opening up my own construction company.
What do you love most about what you do?
I am a people person so I enjoy meeting new clients and seeing the joy they experience when they see their project from frame to finish. The smiles are worth the hard work that goes into each project along with the ongoing referrals and continued relationships once the projects are completed.
What’s the number one thing clients should know before starting a renovation?
Clients should have a realistic budget and timeline in mind before starting a renovation.
If clients have questions or concerns, how would you like them to address them?
Weekly meetings backed up with emails so that everything is in writing.
I have a special place in my heart for Malibu which is where I grew up. However, I currently live in the Pacific Palisades and I enjoy living here since it’s by the ocean, but closer to the city.
What is your favorite activity to do in Los Angeles?
I love the ocean and enjoy boating. I go sailing every Thursday evening with a crew of about 10 people.
If you weren’t a general contractor, what would you be doing?
I would be back in the restaurant business.
