Press Pour Over Brewer

KAMP.studio was founded in 2016 by award winning designer Daniel Kamp, whose work has been exhibited all around the world. Creating sculptural projects inspired by both natural and technological evolution, the studio’s first release of products aims to encourage an ethical approach to the use of 3D printing. By pairing the technology with elegant design, handcraft and quality materials, the studio believes it can make products that people will love forever, rather than tire of and throw away. All products in the collection are limited edition and made to order, to encourage a feeling of personal connection between owner and belonging.

Press Pour Over Brewer, Press Espresso Set and Poise Spoon

When I first saw the collection I was captivated by the unique designs and interesting shapes of the pieces. The Orbit Tea Set has a very pure form, with simple spherical shapes inspired by science. Combining the accuracy of 3D printing with the beautiful imperfection that can only be achieved by hand craft, each object in the set is custom made in porcelain and solid bronze. Orbit’s purpose is purely beauty, serving not as product but as sculpture. The Press Pour Over Brewer on the other hand, combines both. Part coffee maker, part sculpture, the stunning set, which is available in stone grey or gloss white, includes a press jug and lid hand cast in solid, heavy porcelain from 3D printed moulds. Paired with the exquisite Gold Cone Dripper by Osaka Coffee, the hand casting and glazing process allows imperfections to make each set unique.

The beautiful Harmony is a series of one of a kind vessels made from 3D printed porcelain and hand carved New Zealand jade

Elegantly proportioned and beautifully textured, the Orbit Scoop is a tea and coffee scoop with a pure profile and unique materiality. Each scoop is 3D printed in wax then hand cast in bronze, sterling silver or black silver plated brass. A fingerprint-like texture on the interior surface of the scoop shows the layers of ‘growth’ during the 3D printing process.

Era Pen

The signature product of the collection is Era; a sculptural desk pen created in response to the staggering number of ballpoint pens disposed of every year. Designed to be cherished forever, the Era Pen is 3D printed in wax, then hand cast in luxurious metals (solid bronze or sterling silver) and left with a raw finish that is imperfect from day one and patinas with age. What’s more, the Era has a twisted triangular profile that makes it specific to either left or right-handed owners, and when not in use, the pen stands in a solid porcelain base, forming a piece of desktop sculpture. Genius!

“The Era Pen is the perfect representation of our intention to use the accuracy of new technologies and the beautiful imperfection of handcraft, to create products that are explorative, ethical and elegant all at once.” – Daniel Kamp

The collection includes beautiful jewellery designs including organic rings and intricately interlinked necklaces

The KAMP.studio collection will be ever-evolving, with limited edition products turning over regularly. With several pieces currently in the works which I’m already excited about – the POISE sculptural cutlery and Heavenly Spheres look AMAZING – The Studio believes this to be a more sustainable alternative to mass production as diversity and uniqueness are imperative to creating emotional connection. I couldn’t agree more.

The collection is available to purchase online
