Cut paper art has been described as “,” and it’s an apt description of the by . In her series , she illustrates the many ways in which we trek through the world. (My favorites are the bikes with their plants loaded on the back.) The small, intricate images are entirely composed of cut paper, and they celebrate the handcrafted nature of it all; the edges of her shapes aren’t perfect, and the scissors produce some angular forms when they should be smooth and circular. But, this is exactly why I love this project. It feels like she’s using her scissors (or X-Acto knife) like you would a pen drawing, where you’ve got to be confident in the lines you’re making because the medium is unforgiving. So, if you have any imperfections, you’ve just got to lean into it—because who wants perfect, anyway?
