I often wonder how Danish design will evolve in the years to come – so far, my predictions that they’d be adding a bit more “bling” and shiny statement pieces to their interiors have been a correct guess… I’m seeing more and more statement pieces and interiors objects that add contrast to the minimalist, simple, clean lines found in traditional Danish design. It’s a nice mix – on that table above for instance – the classic table shape and materials, the overall simplicity, married with the rather “un-Danish” chairs (definitely not wooden but mimicking the style of a typical wooden chair) and the jewel-toned glass candle holders. This juxtaposition adds a healthy tension that I feel some interiors need to inject more life and personality.
