How to cross potatoes and tomatoes and get a double harvest on one bush
Do you love and secrets? If you do we have one in ours today post that is amazingly clever. It is the case of potatoes and tomatoes. Now, if they grew together on the same bush, then it would be just a wonderful plant.
Many people know that you can graft a branch of one plant onto another if they are of the same family. This will also work if you combine tomato and potatoes, because they also belong to the same family: will ripen on the surface, and will ripen underground. It is not at all difficult to bring out such a result.
You will need:
- young tomato bush
- young potato bush
- sharp knife
- polyethylene film
- clothespin
At the chosen place, in our case it is a bag of earth, we plant a potato bush and a tomato bush close to each other. We leave only one branch from the potato bush, and then cut off all the side shoots and leaves from both bushes, leaving only the uppermost ones.
Then you need to make incisions at the same level on both stems closer to the bottom, at an angle of 45 degrees: an incision on one stem from bottom to top, on the other – from top to bottom, so that they then fit well into each other.
Next, we connect the cut stems together, as if inserting into each other. The junction is good, but not too tightly wrapped with plastic wrap, and then additionally fixed with a linen or other clothespin.
After about 10 days, the stems will take root and you can remove the mount. Also at this time we cut off the potato stalk and tomato root. And now you’ve got a tomato-top and potato-bottom result. It should be tied up and strengthened with a support so that in the future the tomato fruits do not definitely break the vaccine.
After about another 10 days, the first tomatoes will be tied on the bush. And after another 20 they can already be tried.
And at the end of the season, you will also harvest potatoes from this bush.
