Founded by Niko Kralj in Slovenia in 1952, Rex Kralj has since become known for its significant contribution to 20th century industrial design. Krajl’s work is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and is also part of the collection of Design Museum Danmark in Copenhagen, among other high profile international exhibitions. Today, Rex Kralj continues to produce a number of Niko Kralj’s iconic mid-century designs while also collaborating with leading contemporary designers who channel its rich heritage for inspiration.

The brand’s new offering includes dining, lounge, storage and office furniture in the traditional materials used by the company; oak, beech, walnut and plywood. Each piece is available with a new range of customised finish options and an upholstery selection in fabric or leather. New finish options have also been added to existing designs to add a deluxe element.

The extensive range of new designs ensures the brand remains relevant to contemporary interiors. Where previously Rex Kralj only offered a small dining table solution, now there are two impressive designs which cater to a large space. These are elegant adaptations of two successful chair designs which the company has produced in the 1950s, the CC Stool and the Mosquito Chair. Similar developments have been made with another existing design, the Shell Chair.

The newly introduced Square Chair beautifully combines an organic form with a linear, steel tube frame and is designed to suit a range of interior spaces. The new, thoughtful designs and existing range of classics offer an intelligent, skilfully crafted approach to interiors.

It’s easy to see why Good Form directors Dan and Emma Eagle hold this brand in such high regard. The collection can be viewed at the Auckland gallery, and is also available to purchase online
