In our newest webisode, we partnered with Metrie to completely transform the look of a formal sitting room! Our clients moved into a tract home in a new development so we wanted to give the space more character and make it feel less generic. The entire home was white and bright, so we decided to go bold in this room. It’s right off the entry and the perfect space to add a little drama. Watch to see how it all came together and read below for details on how we created a focal wall and decorated the space!
When we designed our focal wall, we took the modern lines of the homes into account and built a simple grid. After drawing out the plans and figuring out what we needed, we ordered the grid molding, crown, and base boards from Metrie. You can’t order directly from Metrie, but you can check out a list of retailers. After we received our molding, DC Carpentry installed it in only a few hours!
We paint the entire room Restless Sea by Behr. It’s a deep blue with a hint of green that’s moody and romantic. We painted from the baseboard to ceiling and even the outlet covers!
Normally, after you paint a room dark you’d work to lighten the space. Instead, we gave in with a complementing dark green couch.
Our client loves glamorous spaces, so we referenced that with brass and gold accents and used luxe materials like a lacquered table and velvet sofa. The tripod base of the Lebon Floor Lamp lets you style it without a side table for a more minimal look.
